Vision

Our vision is a tolerant civic society with disadvantaged and endangered people as their integral part. The collaboration of „weaker and stronger“ should result in building quality and accessible social services. Services that would meet the individual needs of their beneficiaries in their natural environment.

Mission

We improve the quality of life of socially, physically and mentally disadvantaged groups

• providing grants for non-profit organisations, schools and individuals
• awarding the highest quality programmes of NGOs by the SOCIA Foundation awards

We support the reforms of the social system

• we collaborate with NGOs and the public administration forming policies and legislative proposals

We strengthen the social solidarity of Slovak citizens

• creating partnerships with businessmen that have the opportunity to target their support for
• organisations and individuals effectively through our foundation

We provide our services with maximal effectiveness.

We do not build bureaucracy in the process of helping others.

We use philanthropy neither in order to promote ourselves nor to promote our donors inappropriately.

Values

We believe that every human being is unique. Every human being is of value regardless of their mental, physical, material or other disadvantage. 

We believe that it is our responsibility to create an environment in which high quality social services would be developed in response to the needs of people who are dependent on the help of yet other people.

We believe that the task of social services is to respond to the needs of the clients. The services should stimulate self-sufficiency, individual responsibility and quality of the clients´ lives.

We believe that family and community create the optimal life environment. Therefore we the clients should receive the social services in such an environment.

We believe that the quality of life of disadvantaged groups of people can only be improved through the collaboration of all people involved – clients, family, municipality, church, state administration, and social service providers. 

The SOCIA Foundation has an 8-year experience with administering grant programmes and funds aimed at the development of social services and the support of disadvantaged groups of citizens. We support the projects of NGOs and municipalities; we support individual applicants according to their actual needs. We also carry out our own projects on the national as well as the international level. We are part of an informal network of foundations that started in collaboration with the Netherlands foundations in Bulgaria, Hungary, Lithuania, and Croatia.
